Yes, theory is more structural.
Yes, often studying theory allows you to cover more land faster.
Yes, studying in a structured state gives you confidence sooner.
But practice leaves more lasting effects.

First of all, we shouldn't forget that
before obtaining a good theoretical framework,
we cannot even begin to attain any form of real world experience.
We wouldn't even know where to begin.
It would be like trying to explore a land without a map.
I knew necessary IT and CS concepts since I was a child,
long before getting a smidge of real world experience.
After that, I closed my foundational knowledge gaps
by getting certificates and reading manuals.
Then, and only then, did I start gaining real world experience.

There are two ways to approach this:

The first puts theory as your basis.
This allows structure and immediate confidence,
but more often than not, the real world clashes with theory.
Just like the difference between classical physics
and quantum physics. We noticed that objects didn't
behave how they were supposed to if they were small enough.
That opened up a whole new can of worms called
Quantum Physics. Just like that, sometimes the real
world doesn't behave how it's supposed to.
Also, if not combined with real world practice,
it is very easy to forget what you knew.

The second puts practice as your basis.
This allows longevity in obtained information.
This allows precision in how
we approach real world problems.
But we cannot even begin this
without a theoretical baseline.
Also, one should always ask questions
along the way using this approach.
We shouldn't move on to a new process
before understanding the underlying logic.

Both approaches resolve the same issue.
And if done correctly (in my experience),
they produce similar outputs.
I just choose to do it like this:
First, take some theory.
This is usually on a need to know basis.
Then practice as chaotically
and as playfully as possible.
Just like Feynman's approach to learning.
After that, before moving on to the next thing,
ask questions about what just happened
to learn the underlying logic in its full extent.
Of course, this approach is just what has worked for me so far.
Maybe I am right, maybe I am mistaken I don't know.
I am not saying this is the "correct" way to do things.
It's just what I found works best for me.
